Welcome: Some of our story

We’re so glad you visited us this morning or you’re thinking about visiting. We thought it would be good to share a bit more of our story so you can be part of our Risen Church family.

Risen Church started in 2017 meeting in Glenn & Kathryn’s home in Salisbury with the goal of reaching out to Griffith University and the surrounding city. We started with a small core of just 8 people!

Now, Risen Church has grown to around 60 people. We’re made up of Aussies and internationals, students and families.

But here is the most exciting thing: those coming along are discovering Jesus and growing in him.

Why does that matter?

  • Risen Church is a growing church. People coming to Risen Church are becoming Christians! And many are growing in understanding God and their Christian faith like never before. If you want to grow as a Christian, or explore Christianity, Risen Church is a great place to do that.

  • People not programs. We’re on about people not programs. This means sometimes you might look at Risen Church and think - not much is happening here. There are not many programs. But, there is a lot happening. There is a lot of discipleship and many acts of personal love and care. These are all about people discovering Jesus, growing in him and loving each other.

  • As a growing church we’re confident that we’ll keep growing. It is what God does and what his gospel does. It grows people. (See Colossians 1). We have a bunch of Gospel Community Groups, a Kids Church and a small Youth Group.

  • Sometimes, in a growing church, the canvas flaps. Because we’re focussed on growing people through God’s word and discipleship, not every thing runs perfectly all the time, and that is okay.

  • If you’d like to be part of a church growing in Jesus and seeing real change in peoples’ lives then come along to Risen Church.

  • Keep coming: Keep coming on Sundays to meet more of our Risen Church family.

  • Take a Gospel or Explore booklet: On our Welcome table are Gospels (the story of Jesus from the Bible) and Explore booklets to help you spend time with God. Take one! They’re free!

  • Newish lunch or dessert: After you’ve been with us for a few weeks you’ll be invited to a New(ish) lunch or supper. It’s an opportunity for us to get to know you better and for you discover a bit more about what makes Risen tick.

  • Grow in Jesus, Explore Jesus: After that, our next step is to connect you into a Gospel Community or, help you explore Jesus in another way, if that’s where you’re at.
